Visa Issues

If you are not a national of Brazil, you may need a visa to enter.

The following countries require a visa:
United States, China, Taiwan, India, Japan

Most European Union and South American countries do not require a visa. In addition, South Africa, South Korea, also Thailand also do not require a visa.

Please consult this list for exact information.

If you are not a national of Brazil you may need a visa to enter (for a list of countries excluded from this requirement, please contact the nearest Brazilian consulate). Notably, US citizens need a visa to enter Brazil.

Group Visas

We have secured a way to obtain a group visa with the Brazilian Embassy in Washington.  The procedure is as  follows:
(NOTE: if you want to participate in this, PRIOR to sending your documents, please send an email message to visas@rtss.org with a link to your webpage and a link your CV. If your connection to RTSS is not clear, you will need to send your documents to the embassy directly.)

By Nov 1
, anyone who has already registered and resides in the USA sends the following documents to
Daniel Mosse
Computer Science Department
210 South Bouquet St, 6th floor
Pittsburgh, PA  15260
tel: 412-624-5174
List of documents:
  1. passport
  2. 1 photo 2x3 (passport size)
  3. a completed application form
  4.  a copy of their individual itineraries (original is best) showing round-trip schedules
  5. a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) for the passport to be returned to you (see below)
  6. visa fee  (for US citizens, the fee is $110 sent by U.S. POSTAL SERVICE MONEY ORDER, made out to the "Brazilian Embassy." For other nationalities, please contact Sra. Cledir at 202-238-2823)
On November 2, Daniel Mosse from Pitt will send all passports that he has received to the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, DC, with a letter of invitation to all IEEE RTSS participants who have already registered and who reside in the USA.

The consulate will work on the group visa, and by Nov 6, send all passports back to the University of Pittsburgh.
On Nov 10, the passports will then be mailed individually to the requestors, using the requestor's SASE envelopes (UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc).  The safest is to use a parcel delivery service that tracks shipments, of course.
