The WIP session is devoted to the presentation of new and
on-going research in real-time systems, theory, and applications. The primary
purpose of the WIP session is to provide researchers with an opportunity to
discuss their evolving ideas and gather feedback from the real-time community
at large. Of particular interest are ideas and contributions that present
significant paradigm shifts, explore unique and unconventional approaches to
important problems, or investigate fundamental departures from conventional
wisdom in adopted solutions. WIP topics include, but are not limited to:

The RTSS 2005 WIP session will be held during the symposium which runs December
5-8 2005 in
Submissions to RTSS 2005 WIP should describe original on-going work.
Each presenter will be given 5 minutes, INCLUDING SETUP TIME. It is
essential that you make effective use of this time. First, prepare a short talk
(we suggest a maximum of 3 slides + title slide). You should convey one or two
important ideas about your work. You will not be able to give a really fast
version of a regular-length talk, please do not
attempt to do this. Second, you should attempt to minimize transition time by
ensuring ahead of time that your laptop works with the projector and that you
understand how to use the microphone. Also, WIP presenters may want to put
multiple presentations on a single laptop.
The point of the WIP session is for the audience to get a rapid-fire stream of
up-and-coming research ideas. Our experience is that a WIP session is fun and
interesting to attend only if each speaker has really figured out a few key
points to make, and makes them quickly. In other words, it's far better to give
a memorable talk instead of a lot of details.
