FAQ

What should I do if my paper does not fit in the required 20-page limit?

Can we keep the same name for the system even if the system is well known?

How do we make a reference to a paper we have written previously?

Can I acknowledge the grants that I have that support this work?

As we prepare our RTSS'05 submission, we realized that not all of the paper will fit in the 20 pages. Normally, this is not a problem since we simply exclude proofs and other supporting material by putting those things in a Tech Report and citing the tech report. However, this is not an option with the blind review process. What to do?

To help making it both anonymous and complete, please send the tech report you would like to cite to rtss05@cs.pitt.edu, and we'll add it to the RTSS.org website with your a certain URL (http://www.rtss.org/YOUR-TR-NAME.pdf). This way, reviewers will be able to check it out if they want to and will not violate any type of double-blind review intention.

We are writing a paper for RTSS concerning the real time properties of a system about which papers have already been written in our group. Can we keep the same name for the system even though the system is well known?

It would be best to either not use a name for the system, or change the name, so that it cannot be identified. For example, you can say it's "based on the system XYZ, which has been published elsewhere [1,2,4]".

How do we make a reference to a paper that we have written previously?

The papers in the related work or the bibliography should be cited as any other paper: either just a reference number (e.g., "real-time properties are limited to soft-real-time systems [4]") or with the names of the authors in the third person (e.g., "Mosse et al [4] describe soft real-time properties...").

Can I acknowledge the grants I have that support this work?

Acknowledging the grants that support your work may be construed as a means of identifying the work, and therefore the authors.  Please refrain from acknowledgements until the paper is selected for publication.
